Ps 49:16-19 “Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, When the [a]glory of his house is increased; 17 For when he dies he will carry nothing away; His [b]glory will not descend after him. 18 Though while he lives he congratulates [c]himself— And though men praise you when you do well for yourself— 19 [d]He shall go to the generation of his fathers; “
This is an interesting passage. I’m thinking about some people who are currently very rich. I’m not going to name any names but you know who they are. Some of them are not nice people. Some of them are evil. But the Lord says we don’t have to be afraid of them. The problem is that they can do some bad things with their money. However, I think this is the place in the Bible where we get the expression “You can’t take it with you”? This is a good reminder for me although I haven’t been worried about the future. My wife’s dad always used to say he only wanted enough money to see him out. Well, he’s been gone now quite a few years and his wish/prayer was granted.
