Question #2
WHY DID GOD CREATE YOU-ME-US???
So, when you answered that first question, one of the things you discovered was that God is creator. At the very least, He is creator. You probably already knew that. And you discovered that He created everything. That includes you and me, but why? Certainly we are really “nice” people. We are smart. We are attractive. We love Him don’t we? We trust Him don’t we? We talk to Him all the time don’t we? We worship Him don’t we? We honor Him don’t we? We tell other people about Him don’t we? We do everything we can to make Him look good don’t we? I could go on and on. So could you.
We could come up with a great list of reasons why we think God would want to create us. But, rather than speculate, why don’t we see what He has to say on the subject. I have suggested several passages that may give us some hints about why He created us. Take a look and see how the Holy Spirit speaks to you about these passages. Don’t be afraid to meditate on these for a full and complete understanding. Remember, we will be comparing notes later to see if we have similar or different views. Perhaps you know of some other passages that describe why He created us. Please feel free to list those as well. If you are wrong, God will probably still love you.

Acts 17:24-31
24 “The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25 neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all life and breath and all things; 26 and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His offspring.’ 29 “Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. 30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” NASB
Job 41:10-11
10 “No one is so fierce that he dares to arouse him; Who then is he that can stand before Me? 11 “Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine. NASB
Ps 50:10-12
10 “For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. 11 “I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. 12 “If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all it contains. NASB
Isa 43:6-7
6 “I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ And to the south, ‘Do not hold them back. ‘Bring My sons from afar, And My daughters from the ends of the earth, 7 Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made.” NASB
Is 46:9-10
9 “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning. And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’; NASB
Rom 11:33-36 (one of my personal favorite passages)
33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. NASB
I Cor 10:31
31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. NASB
Eph 1:3-12
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, 8 which He lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fulness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things upon the earth. In Him 11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, 12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. NASB
