Page 28. Make a wish……

On your birthday, did you light candles on your cake and make a wish and blow them out?  Then when everybody asked you what you wished for did you say you couldn’t tell because then  the wish wouldn’t come true?  My niece performed this exercise recently on her birthday.

Or when you were on a cruise and you were in the square of some Caribbean island city and there was a fountain and you threw a coin in the fountain and you made a wish, did it come true?

Or do you remember the TV program from back in the day “I Dream of Genie” ?  She could just wiggle her nose and make things (dreams) happen.

And then there is the story of “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp”.  I’m sure you remember that story.    You may have read it to your kids when they were little.

So, when Aladdin appears to you and asks what you want, anything you want, right now, you can have it.  What would you ask for????

One of the most famous stories about wishes, of course, is the one about…………………

Remember who?????

You guessed it, King Solomon.  And you remember who was able to grant his request…….

Or course:

 GOD!!

Do you remember what king Solomon asked for?  Of course you do, and God was so impressed with Solomon’s request that He granted it.  Remember, Solomon could have asked for anything although I don’t think he really needed or could have wanted anything.  He had virtually everything.  He was the richest man in the world.

He asked for WISDOM.  We spoke about wisdom a few weeks ago.  And, we discovered that wisdom could be had by trusting and reverencing the Lord.  But it didn’t say why.  Now I am several cards farther in my pack of memory cards and am at Prov 9.

The tenth verse explains why……………..

“For the reverence and fear of God are basic to all wisdom.  Knowing God results in every other kind of understanding.”

Did you get that?   EVERY OTHER KIND OF UNDERSTANDING.  Wow!  This is a real game-changer as they say in the sports world.

Are you relying on Genie?  Or your birthday cake.  Or the fountain in the square in Aruba?

Do you know God?  If not, go back to Page 2.
