I tend to be a “peace at any price” kind of guy. I avoid conflict. I don’t like “going up against” people. But I have some friends who really enjoy the conflict.
My avoidance of conflict caused some problems in our family back in the day when my son was in high school. Thank goodness my wife tends toward tough love. It’s been quite a few years ago now but I remember what James Dobson said about the teenage years, “just get them through it”. At the time I wasn’t sure we would be able to get him through it but we did. We made it and my son is a godly man today and a good father and husband.
Maybe you have had some experience with anger. To my amazement (shouldn’t have been a surprise), I have learned that the Bible has some advice in this arena. Take a look at:
Prov 17:14 ___________________________________________________________________
Prov 15:1 ____________________________________________________________________
Prov 22:24 ___________________________________________________________________
Eph 4:26-27 __________________________________________________________________
==============================================================================
Prov 17:14 “It’s hard to stop a quarrel once it starts, so don’t let it begin”.
Prov 15:1 “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
Prov 22:24 “Do not associate with a man given to anger; or go with a hot-tempered man, lest you learn his ways, and find a snare for yourself.”
Eph 4:26-27 “Be angry and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity.”
